Whether you’re an astronomy neophyte or a seasoned enthusiast, come observe & learn about the heavens at our Fall Stargazing Party, led by an expert from the University of Georgia Department of Physics & Astronomy. Join PhD candidate Robin Allen for a brief presentation followed by a guided tour of the night sky. As the temperatures cool and the skies clear, this will be a perfect way to spend an evening outdoors.
We will be grilling out prior to the presentation, so bring your appetite! Vegetarian options and hot & cold beverages will be provided.
What to Bring
As the weather during this season can be unpredictable, it is best to dress in (or bring) layers such as long-sleeved shirts, jackets, etc. Red flashlights are encouraged. Portable telescopes or binoculars are recommended for an optimal viewing experience. If you don’t currently own binoculars, any 10×50 option would work well — some recommendations include:
- SkyGenius 10×50 Binoculars ($40)
- Celestron SkyMaster 12×60 Binoculars ($90)
